Calm, connected systems for your business - wherever you are
Working with service-driven businesses and teams across Hertfordshire, London, and beyond.

I'm Rachel McNab, a
fractional COO and business systems architect based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. I work with service businesses who need their operations to feel calm, connected, and dependable. Most of my work is done remotely, which means geography rarely gets in the way. That said, I have a particular connection to the businesses in and around Hertfordshire, the M25 corridor, and London and I'm always happy to meet in person when it's useful.
Areas I serve
I work with clients across the UK, but the areas below are where I have the deepest connections and where the local demand for this kind of operational support is highest.
St Albans
My home base. St Albans has a thriving community of independent service businesses, consultancies, and small teams and a real appetite for operational support that doesn't require a full-time hire.

Hertfordshire
From Watford to Welwyn, Hertfordshire has a dense population of established service businesses that have grown beyond spreadsheets and need the structure to match their ambition.

North London
Many of my clients are based in or connected to North London, which has a natural overlap with the Hertfordshire commuter belt. Meetings in person are easy when needed.

London
I work with founders and teams across London - particularly in the creative, consultancy, and professional services sectors. Remote-first, with in-person available when it adds value.

East London
West London
South London
UK-wide (remote)
The nature of operational systems work means most of what I do can be done remotely without any loss of quality. I work with clients across the UK. If the fit is right, location isn't a barrier.

What working together looks like
Whether you're in St Albans, South London, or working fully remotely, the process is the same.
01
Discovery call
A conversation about where your business is now, what's creating friction, and what you need. No obligation. Just clarity.
02
Understanding your business
I learn how you and your team actually operate including your processes, your tools, your team.
03
Building the right structure
Recommendations, then implementation. I don't hand over a report and leave; I build what's needed and make sure it sticks.
04
Handing over with confidence
Your team is trained, the systems are running, and the business is calmer. Optional retainer support if you want me to stay involved.
The right support for where you are
Three ways to work with Systems Rani, each designed for a different stage of operational maturity.
Simplify
Moving off spreadsheets
For small teams that know their spreadsheets aren't sustainable anymore. I learn your processes, find the right tool, build it around how you actually work, and train your team.
Evolve
Full systems overhaul
For established teams whose tools exist but aren't working together. Audit, recommendations, and full implementation so your systems finally do what you need them to do.
Fractional COO
Ongoing operational leadership
For founders who need a strategic operations partner. Someone embedded in the business, thinking about it between calls as well as during them.
